Alexis Diaz
CONWAY
“Nocturna”
Alexis Diaz is a Puerto Rican painter and muralist, known for his chimerical and dreamlike depictions of animals in a state of metamorphosis. Díaz has been drawing from a very young age but street art always spoke to his sensibilities, above other traditional methods. With over forty murals and counting, his work features an unmistakable mix of monochrome animals and symbols, every piece hand painted with a cross hatching technique, giving an art historical nod to mid-millennia illustrations in detailed ink drawings. The finished work includes thousands of lines, large and small, carrying the same techniques of his large-scale mural work over to his more intimate fine art series and prints.
“I really appreciate the people of Conway…really, really, nice people. When you travel and are far away from your place or family, you need to feel like that to do the best.”
— Alexis Diaz
“In the night, it’s completely different…and I think you have the opportunity to feel inside of the scene.”
— Alexis Diaz
